Chippenham Town Bowls Club, otherwise simply known as ‘Town’ in local bowling circles, is one of three bowls clubs in Chippenham. Formed in 1912 we currently have over 100 members and are associated with Chippenham Sports Club that caters for a wide range of sporting activities including, cricket, tennis, hockey, football as well as lawn bowls. We are affiliated with Bowls Wiltshire and Bowls England and are considered one of the premier clubs in the area.

We actively encourage new members and those new to the game to join us on our excellent green and extend a warm welcome to young, old, seasoned players and beginners to our fold.

We’re a friendly, happy club and yet manage to strike that delicate balance of competitive but social atmosphere and compete in matches ranging from the intensely serious to the more social, friendly games.

Competitively our men take part in the Wiltshire ‘Four-Rink’ and ‘Three Rink’ leagues, the Mid-Wilts triples leagues and the slightly more relaxed ‘Tea & Biscuits’ leagues on Tuesday & Friday afternoons. Ladies compete in the Wiltshire ‘Nor-west’ league and the ‘Bowls Wiltshire’ league. We encourage participation in all County and Club competitions and have had great success at national level.

We have an active social calender with friendlies, a club ‘Triples’ evening each week, charity events, fish & chip nights and fun ‘roll-ups/social’ evenings.

It’s true to say our facilities are second to none in the area from our competition standard playing arena (green with floodlights) to excellent catering and bar in our lovely, large and modern clubhouse.

We can provide first rate qualified coaches if any part of your game needs improving and give plenty of opportunity to practice and hone your skills.

The beauty of the game of bowls is its ability to cater for all levels of skill and still be a fantastic sociable fun game that is enjoyed all over the country and indeed, world. We take care in ensuring our club combines those elements and are committed in making sure that the sport continues to be enjoyed by the community for many decades to come.
