Playing opportunities in July

Ladies and Gentleman

An update on playing opportunities to be arranged during the coming month of July.

1. A further session of Pairs play has been set up for Saturday 4th July at 10.30am. To book in to play, please go to the discussion forum topic on the club website and post your confirmation of wanting to play. We can accommodate up to 16 players, 4 rinks.

2. A trial of Triples play is being undertaken with the intention of resurrecting club night play with potential spaces for up to 24 players. More news to follow on this from Martin Bayliss in the coming days.

3. Following the recent questionnaire survey, we are going ahead with some competition play. We plan to introduce both Singles play and Pairs play, both to be played on a league basis with set play sessions on week days.

If you want to play in the Singles please go to the Discussion Topic under the members area  on the club website and just post you want to play in the Singles comp. If this is tricky for you then as an alternative please email Rosemary Fitzpatrick at

For the Pairs Comp, you can either nominate who your Pairs partner will be or if you have no partner then just ask to be included in the comp' and we will match people up as a Pair.

Again please go to the Discussion Topic under the members area on the club website and just post the names of your Pairing or just your name asking for a partner to be found.

If this is tricky for you then as an alternative please email the same detail to Rosemary Fitzpatrick at

We will keep entry nominations open until Sunday 12th July. The draw details including play dates will be sorted in w/c 13th July with the intention to start play in w/c 20th July. Depending on the number of entries, games will either be once or twice a week.

For both the Singles and Pairs competitions we would expect the majority of the play sessions to be between 10am - 5pm on weekdays with some limited flexibility if required to play games in an evening session for those that work. Its difficult to be more precise about this until we know what numbers we are dealing with. Finally, again to make it as inclusive as possible for members of all abilities we will try to apply some elements of seeding to the league formations of round robin play where we can.

I appreciate this all has an element of vagueness over how it might work but its obviously due in part to the strange times we are in. We will ask for an entry fee for each competition once games start, £2.50 per person, this will be used to buy prizes etc.

I hope many members will appreciate what we are trying to do here and put an entry into either or both of the competitions.

Best regards
